Participation in the XIII International Scientific and Technical Conference “Information Technology Security: ITSEC”

On May 9, 2024, the opening ceremony of the XIII International Scientific and Technical Conference “Information Technology Security: ITSEC”. The purpose of the forum is to get acquainted with modern achievements and highlight the results of scientific research on all aspects of information and cybersecurity, business analytics and information protection.

The event was organized by Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in cooperation with the National Aviation University, Rowan University (USA), Halmstad University (Sweden), the Scientific School “Cybersecurity” of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the public organization “Association of Cybersecurity Specialists”.

They made a welcoming speech:

  • Ivan Dyak, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv;
  • Vice-Rector for Research at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Roman Hladyshevskyi;
  • Acting Rector of the State University of Information and Communication Technologies Volodymyr Shulga;
  • Iryna Udovyk, Head of the Expert Council of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at the National Technical University “Dnipro Polytechnic”;
  • Oleksandr Kulepin, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization (CDTO);
  • Serhiy Zhuk, head of the State Special Communications Service in Lviv region;
  • Dmytro Ivanov, Head of the 9th Division of the Cybercrime Department in Lviv Region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine;
  •  Dmytro Khoustov, Head of the Scientific Center of the Land Forces of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy, is a member of the Board of Directors;
  • Head of Information Security at SoftServe Andriy Pavlykevych;
  • Ivan Opirsky, Head of the Information Security Department at Lviv Polytechnic National University;
  • Rostyslav Tkachuk, Head of the Department of Information Security Management at Lviv State University of Life Safety;
  • Vitalii Kukharskyi, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Informatization of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv;
  •  Acting Head of the Department of Cyber Security at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Petro Vengerskyi.

The participants then continued the conference in the format of a plenary session, where they discussed topical issues in the field of cybersecurity, including assessing the state of cyber defense of critical infrastructure facilities, a system for monitoring the perimeter of a critical infrastructure facility, a methodology for building a multi-loop security system in socio-cyber-physical systems, and other relevant issues.

During the plenary session, the Department of Cybersecurity of Khmelnytsky National University (KNU) was represented by the Head of the Department Yuriy Klets and Assistant Natalia Petliak with a report on “Intrusion Identification Method Based on Traffic Self-Similarity Determination Algorithm and Fuzzy Logic Algorithms.”

During the breakout sessions, students and lecturers of the Department of Cyber Security of KhNU presented their reports:

  • D., Associate Professor Vira Titova and Assistant Professor Volodymyr Anikin presented a report on “Building Nonlinear Cryptosystems and Cryptographic Protocols.”
  • D. in Engineering, Associate Professor Viktor Cheshun, Assistant Professor Yevhen Mayor, and third-year undergraduate student Nataliia Kupchyk with a presentation on Blockchain for Identification and Authentication Security.
  • D., professor Mykhailo Kasyanchuk with a report on “Athenian encryption methods in the residual class system”.

The relevance of the reports aroused a lively interest in discussions and debates.

We are sincerely grateful to the organizers for holding the conference, which provided an opportunity to present research papers in person, share experiences and establish communication with universities from different regions of Ukraine and the EU.
