On October 16–18, 2025, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv hosted the international scientific and practical conference SMICS-2025 "Security of Modern Information and Communication Systems." The organizers and initiators of the event were Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the State University of Information and Communication Technologies, with the support of scientific partners from the United States (Rowan University), Sweden (Halmstad University), and Poland (University of the National Education Commission, Opole University of Technology), as well as the NGO "Association of Cybersecurity Specialists" and the "Cyber Security Academy."
The conference was attended by leading scientists, teachers, and practitioners from various cities in Ukraine, as well as representatives of foreign institutions. During plenary and sectional reports and discussions, participants discussed the formation of state cyber policy, international security standards, protection of communication systems and cloud infrastructure, software and hardware tools to counter cyberattacks, the use of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, methods of combating disinformation and social engineering, and the specifics of protecting cyber-physical systems.


The presentations and seminars were conducted in Ukrainian and English, which facilitated broad academic exchange and the integration of global practices into domestic cyber defense.
SMICS-2025 demonstrated the importance of inter-university and international cooperation in research and ensuring the security of information and communication systems. The conference's achievements lay the foundation for further scientific projects and joint initiatives in the field of cybersecurity.
