On 29 October 2026, a training workshop entitled ‘Digital Security and Legal Capacity of Women Leaders in the Khmelnytskyi Region’ took place in Khmelnytskyi, organised as part of the comprehensive cross-sectoral training programme of the ‘Safe Space 1325: Cyber Security and Legal Capacity of Women Leaders in Khmelnytskyi Region’.
The event began with welcoming remarks from Nataliia Lomako, Acting Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Regional State Administration, and Yurii Klots, Head of the Department of Cyber Security at Khmelnytskyi National University.
In his opening address, Yuriy Klots highlighted the pressing issues of cybersecurity and cyber defence in today’s digital environment. Given the constant evolution of cyber threats, the protection of personal data, awareness of digital risks and preparedness to counter potential threats are of particular importance.

The workshop programme covered the legal and technical aspects of digital security, including the protection of personal data, the minimisation of digital risks, adherence to cyber hygiene guidelines, and procedures for responding to cyber threats. Particular attention was paid to the secure operation of civil society organisations, the protection of digital resources, and mechanisms for rapid incident response.
Nataliia Petliak, Associate Professor in the Department of Cyber Security, joined the discussion on topical issues in digital security by taking part in a specialist debate on the current challenges of cyber defence and countering cyber threats. The exchange of views facilitated a discussion of the practical aspects of ensuring security in the digital environment and the search for effective approaches to responding to potential threats.

The participation of representatives from the Department of Cyber Security at Khmelnytskyi National University in the event helps to disseminate specialist knowledge about modern cyber threats, cyber defence methods and the safe use of digital technologies.
The event took place as part of the ‘Women. Peace. Security: From Local to Global’ project, which is being implemented by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund with the support of the Government of Canada.
