Regional cyber security cluster at KhNU

June 30, 2021 on the base of Khmelnytskyi National University offline and online through the Zoom platform took place Regional cluster "Cyber ​​security. Protection of critical infrastructure. Specialist training and market needs in Khmelnytskyi region". The initiators of this event were the Department of Cyber ​​Security and Computer Systems and Networks together with the Department of International Relations of the Khmelnytskyi National University.

The regional cluster was launched as a platform for discussing cyber security issues and ways to solve them, as well as establishing cooperation between representatives of education and business, state institutions, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure quality training of competitive cyber security specialists.

The event began with greetings from the rector of the Khmelnytskyi National University, Serhiy Matyukh, and the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Council, Violeta Labaziuk.

He was the moderator of the Regional Cluster Vadim Basisty, leading specialist in international projects and programs of the international relations departmentwho represented the guests and participants of the event.

At the Regional Cyber ​​Security Cluster, a number of important issues related to the protection of critical infrastructure were considered, the prospects for international cooperation in the field of cyber security were outlined, and the peculiarities of working with data and protocols were highlighted. The participants of the cluster made interesting and meaningful presentations.

Head of the Department for Ensuring the Activities of the National Coordination Center for Cyber ​​Security of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhii Prokopenko in his report, he talked about the need for training cyber security specialists for industry sectors, as well as the importance of bringing together educational institutions and businesses to jointly solve these issues.

Yevhen Vladimirov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization, presented cyber security concepts for the energy market, focusing on the features of safe use of Internet resources and protection of personal data.

Yurii Klots, head of the department of cyber security and computer systems and networks of the Khmelnytskyi National University, highlighted the department's activities, educational components of educational and professional programs, international educational projects, presented the material and technical base - initial laboratories and their capabilities, and also talked about the needs of training specialists on cyber security for industry sectors.

Cybersecurity project manager of the Office of the US Civilian Research and Development Foundation Iryna Tsyvkovska outlined the directions of the foundation's activities and the implementation of educational programs in Ukraine, in particular, the features of cooperation with the department cyber security and computer systems and networks Khmelnytskyi National University and presented the project "Strengthening the capacities of Ukrainian state bodies in the field of cyber hygiene and cyber security", in which anyone interested in the safe use of Internet resources can also participate.

Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work Kateryna Skyba thanked the participants for their active participation in the event on such a relevant issue for the modern information society as cyber security and expressed the hope that such an initiative of the Khmelnytskyi National University will contribute to the dialogue between education and stakeholders in our region.

Maryna Yevdokymenko, the coordinator of the educational component of the project "Cybersecurity of the Critically Important Infrastructure of Ukraine", described in detail the USAID projects "Cybersecurity of the Critically Important Infrastructure of Ukraine" and the Erasmus+ Project Jean Monet module "Framework and policies of the EU on cybersecurity", as well as the directions of their implementation on the basis of the Department of Cybersecurity and Computer of computer systems and networks of the Khmelnytskyi National University.

In the second part of the event, a question-and-answer session was held, where the possibilities of cooperation in the field of cyber security with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Public Organization "All-Ukrainian Union of ATO Soldiers" were discussed, which testifies to the urgency of solving cyber security problems in the military sector.

At the end of the event Vadymom Basystym the idea of ​​creating a cyber laboratory on the basis of Khmelnytskyi National University as a platform for student training and for conducting testing and certification of personnel regarding the provision of cyber protection of industrial enterprises, technological systems and processes was presented.
