On Cyber Monday, it is worth remembering that the benefits of this day go far beyond online shopping. Discounts and promotions attract attention, but it is equally important to invest time in your own digital security. After all, it is knowledge gained at the right time that can protect you from threats that are invisible to the eye but constantly accompany every user on the Internet. Improving digital literacy is becoming a necessity, as modern life is closely intertwined with electronic services, cloud storage, and social networks.
Students from Lyceum No. 17 of the Khmelnytsky City Council had a wonderful opportunity to turn Cyber Monday into a day of development and new discoveries. They visited the Department of Cybersecurity at Khmelnytsky National University, where they saw things that are usually hidden from the average user. During the tour, the students learned about the hardware security measures used in a professional environment. Special attention was paid to the topic of detecting hidden devices that can be used to intercept information. Through practical examples, the students saw how specialists search for such threats, what indicators may indicate their presence, and why the physical security of a room is as important as digital protection. This experience helps to understand how complex the task of cybersecurity is and why it requires attention at all levels.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of cyber hygiene rules. Students were reminded of the need to use complex passwords, enable two-factor authentication, be wary of suspicious messages, regularly update software, and treat personal data responsibly. All of this shapes a culture of safe online behavior, which should start in school. Thus, Cyber Monday for the students of Lyceum No. 17 became not only a day of lucrative opportunities, but also a day of important knowledge that helps them feel confident in the digital world.
The Department of Cybersecurity would like to thank the staff and students of Lyceum No. 17 for their participation. Special thanks to the director of the lyceum, V.V. Pirog, and the homeroom teacher of class 10-B, T.V. Pilyavskaya.
