On November 21, 2023, with the assistance of the State Special Communications Service of Ukraine, a guest practical lesson was held by practitioners of the special units of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine with students of the specialties “Cybersecurity” and “Cybersecurity and Information Protection” of the bachelor's and master's levels on the topic “Technical means of detecting sources of potential information leakage through technical channels and means of unauthorized information collection”.

During the lesson, higher education students got acquainted with the operation of specialized equipment for detecting embedded devices and information leakage channels, including a search complex for detecting mobile devices for covert information acquisition, detectors of video cameras and embedded devices, a nonlinear locator, spectrum analyzers, a thermal imager, an endoscope, devices for detecting and blocking information leakage channels, other equipment and software, etc.

Practitioners told the students about the principles and rules of using the equipment presented, demonstrating its operation and supporting the theoretical and practical part of the material with numerous facts and examples from their own experience.

An unconventional approach to teaching the material, up-to-date equipment and professional experience of stakeholders aroused keen interest of higher education applicants and the department's scientific and pedagogical staff. During the discussion, the applicants received answers to their questions and a lot of interesting and useful information about employment and career prospects.

As a practical task, we examined equipment that allows for remote capture of information and implemented a set of measures to counteract information leakage.

The lecture was attended by Vice-Rector for Research, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Oleh Mykolaiovych Syniuk. In the final part of the meeting, representatives of the university and the State Service summarized the current results of the activities under the memorandum, noted the existing successes and identified promising areas for expanding cooperation.

The staff of the Department of Cybersecurity expresses its sincere gratitude to the USCCIR for supporting the interests of higher education students and active participation in the educational process of the department.
