USAID Education Program in Action

On June 14, 2021, the educational process of the USAID Cybersecurity Activity educational component of the USAID project “Cybersecurity of Ukraine's Critical Infrastructure” was officially launched, with Khmelnytsky National University as one of the 14 participants. USAID Cybersecurity Activity is a program to improve higher education in cybersecurity. The program is focused on achieving this goal by enhancing the skills of teachers, modernizing educational programs by international standards, and opening modern laboratories at universities.

The project manager, Timothy Dubel, welcomed the project participants.

During the meeting, the participants got acquainted with the course instructors and cybersecurity experts from the United States, the EU and Ukraine. The instructors presented general information about the courses and their objectives.

Khmelnytsky National University is represented by the academic staff of the Department of Cybersecurity and Computer Systems and Networks: Head of the Department Yurii Klots, Associate Professors Ihor Mulyar, Vira Titova, and Viktor Cheshun, and Senior Lecturer Serhii Mostovyi.

The department's lecturers take advanced training courses:

  • Cyber-physical System Security. Instructor: Dr. Kemal Akkaya and Yacoub Hanna. The course is being conducted by Yuriy Klots;
  • Incident Response. Instructor: Dr. Marcus Rogers & Nicholas Sturgeon/Krassimir Tzvetanov. The course is conducted by V. Titova;
  • Digital Forensics. Instructor: Dr. Marcus Rogers & Nicholas Sturgeon/Krassimir Tzvetanov. The course is conducted by V. Cheshun;
  • WebSecurity. Instructor: Oleksii Baranovsky. The course is being taken by Mulyar I.V;
  • Network security. Instructor: Vadym Chakryan. The course is conducted by S.V. Mostovoy.

Participation in the project will allow the staff of the department not only to improve their professional level and apply the knowledge gained to improve the quality of teaching existing educational components and develop new ones.
