The Department took part in the online seminar “Testing and security of WI-FI networks”

On January 25, 2024, an online seminar “Testing and Security of WI-FI Networks” was held, to which students and teachers of the Department of Cyber Security of KhNU were invited.

The seminar was held as part of a series of events to promote the training course “Testing and Security of WI-FI Networks” developed with the support of the USAID Project “Cybersecurity of Ukraine's Critical Infrastructure” at Lviv Polytechnic National University, for which the Project helped to establish a regional cybersecurity laboratory.

The speaker at the seminar was Olha Mykhailova, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Security at the Institute of Computer Technology, Automation and Metrology, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

The online meeting discussed how users can protect their Wi-Fi network. The speaker paid attention to the main aspects of the problem of cybersecurity of wireless network resources:

  • historical aspects of Wi-Fi technology development and related threats
  • the impact of cybersecurity issues on wireless networks
  • typical attacks on a Wi-Fi network, methods and signs of their implementation
  • basic requirements for WLAN security
  • systems for detecting and preventing intrusion into wireless networks
  • wireless network audit
  • wireless security policy, etc.
